PCO Licence Renewal
The PCO Licence is valid for a period of 3 years and every 3 years you be given the opportunity to renew it. In order to carry on working as a Licenced Private Hire or Chauffeur Driver in London you will will need to ensure your renewal is submitted in time. Luckily Transport for London will send you your renewal forms before your current licence expires so all you need to do is remember to send them back. However, ultimately, the onus is on you to make sure your PCO Licence is renewed in time and you simply can’t rely on TfL sending you the renewal forms. If it expires it’s your fault.
Don’t leave it too late for your PCO Licence Renewal
It can take several weeks for a renewal to be processed, so it’s safe to say don’t leave it too late otherwise your PCO Licence may expire and you won’t be able to work not only because you’re unlicensed but also because your insurance policy will be invalid too.
If your PCO Licence is due to run out and you’re thinking of having a break then you can either let it expire or renew it and make a decision to use it later. If you leave it more than 3 months from the expiry date before completing your renewal application then you will be treated as a new applicant meaning you will have to go through the entire application process from the start.

What do I need?
- You will need a recent passport photo.
- The completed renewal form.
- Completed Criminal Records Check DBS .
