Lost PCO Licence?

licence_lostIf you have lost your PCO licence or misplaced it, you are not allowed to work as a Private Hire Driver. Your PCO licence is a key document that officially marks you as licensed by Transport for London (TfL). It’s required to be displayed in your vehicle at all times, showing that you’re an official driver and not an illegal cabbie or tout. To avoid any legal issues, it’s essential to address any issues with your licence as soon as possible.

If your PCO licence has been lost, damaged, or stolen, the first step is to report it. If your licence has been lost in a public place or stolen, you must report the incident to the police. They will issue a ‘Lost in Streets’ or ‘Crime Reference’ number, which is required for the next steps.

What to Do If Your PCO Licence is Lost

  • Report the loss to the police and get a reference number
  • Contact TfL at 0343 222 4444 to inform them
  • Stop working as a Private Hire Driver until you receive a replacement

TfL’s address:

TFL – Taxi and Private Hire

Palestra, 4th Floor (Green Zone)

197 Blackfriars Road, London SE1 8NJ

Once you’ve reported the loss, refrain from working as a driver until you receive confirmation from TfL that it’s okay to resume. Shortly after, you will receive a replacement badge sent by Recorded Delivery, and your licence will be updated with the new badge number.

If you have any further questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact TfL directly at 0343 222 4444.
